Individual membership

Individual membership is open to anyone with an interest in occupational hygiene and its related fields.

Joining as an individual members gives immediate access to our resources, and allows you to support the work of BOHS in raising awareness of worker health protection.

Student membership is open to all full-time students. 

Joining will give you access to the valuable learning and academic resources to support your studies. You will also receive exclusive information about occupational hygiene vacancies to help get your career moving.

Membership for companies

Affiliate membership

Affiliate membership is for companies, organisations and corporations who would like to demonstrate their commitment to improving workplace health.

Becoming an Affiliate member will allow you to nominate two employees who can access the membership benefits. 

Qualified professionals (occupational hygiene)

Associate membership

This is the first step for those wishing to gain professional recognition as an Occupational Hygienist.

It demonstrates you have relevant skills and knowledge, you are commitment towards CPD, the BOHS Code of Ethics and your development and ensures you remain relevant and employable.

As an Associate member you'll be able to use the AFOH post-nominals and access all the membership benefits and resources.

Licentiate membership

This grade of membership is open to those who hold the BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene or the international version of the qualification.  It demonstrates you have relevant skills and knowledge, you are commitment towards CPD and our Code of Ethics and your development and ensures you remain relevant and employable.

As a Licentiate member you'll be able to use the LFOH post-nominals and access all the membership benefits and resources.

Chartered Member

Chartered status is internationally recognised and signifies a high level of professional competence and experience. BOHS is the only organisation in the world that offers Chartered Membership for Occupational Hygienists.

As a Chartered Member you'll be able to use the CMFOH post-nominals and access all the membership benefits and resources.

Chartered Fellow

Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene is the highest award that the Faculty can bestow on a practising professional hygienist. It is awarded only to applicants who have been in the Chartered Member grade for at least five years, who can demonstrate seniority in the field of occupational hygiene and who also can demonstrate a distinct contribution to the advancement of the profession to the satisfaction of the Faculty Board. 

As a Chartered Fellow you'll be able to use the CFFOH post-nominals and access all the membership benefits and resources.

Qualified professionals (asbestos)

Technician

This is the first step for those wishing to gain professional recognition as an asbestos professional. You'll need to hold one of the BOHS Level 4 Qualifications (P401, P402, P403, P404, S301, W504) or an equivalent.

It demonstrates you have relevant skills and knowledge, you are commitment towards CPD, the Code of Ethics and your development, and ensures you remain relevant and employable.

As a Technician member you'll be able to use the TFAAM post-nominals and access all the membership benefits and resources.

Associate

This level of membership demonstrates that you have a clear understanding of the asbestos profession through a nationally recognised qualification or series of qualifications. You'll need to hold either the P405, P407 or three from P401, P402, P403, P404, S301, W504. It signifies that you are looking to show that you take the profession seriously and are committed to progression.  It also demonstrates you have relevant skills and knowledge, you are commitment towards CPD, the Code of Ethics,  your development and ensures you remain relevant and employable. As an Associate member you'll be able to use the AFAAM post-nominal and access all the membership benefits and resources.

Licentiate

This level of membership is for those who have established their competence in the field of asbestos by obtaining the BOHS Certificate of Competence in Asbestos. It demonstrates you have relevant skills and knowledge, you are commitment towards CPD, the Code of Ethics and your development, and ensures you remain relevant and employable.

As a Licentiate member you'll be able to use the LFAAM post-nominal and access all the membership benefits and resources.

Member

This level of membership is aimed at professionals who want to achieve the highest professional standards.

Employers will know that when they work with a person who is a FAAM Member, they are dealing with someone who is at the top of their profession.

It demonstrates you have relevant skills and knowledge, you are commitment towards CPD, the Code of Ethics and your development, and ensures you remain relevant and employable.

As a Member you'll be able to use the MFAAM post-nominal and access all the membership benefits and resources.
There are two routes of application to this level of membership.  If you successfully pass you will be awarded Member status
