Thomas Bedford Medal 2020 Winner Webinar - Bill Cassells

Thomas Bedford Medal 2020 Winner Webinar - Bill Cassells
This year, BOHS are proud to award Bill Cassells with the Thomas Bedford Medal for demonstrating an Outstanding Contribution to the Improvement of Worker Health Protection.

On Wednesday 29 July, Bill will be live, presenting his keynote speech - '2020 In Control'.

Most recently the focus has been on the COVID-19 pandemic but that should not divert our attention from the persistent 12,000 annual deaths in the UK alone from work-related occupational lung disease. As professionals, we are routinely involved with key aspects of exposure control in the workplace, for example; measuring and evaluating exposures through to specifying/installing engineering solutions etc. How has this professional effort over the past 10 years translated into significant real-world improvements in workplace exposure control? What would the headmaster’s “end of decade” report say of our performance?

In 2020, are we confident that we are in control of Control?  Are existing strategies adequate, appropriate, and acceptable?  If not, what changes could and should be considered?
