Chemicals and the Skin-What might be missing and the consequences?
Speaker: Chris Packham- Dermatological Engineer -EnviroDerm Services
Chris’ presentation deals with some of the myths and misinformation that exist about how our skin interacts with the working environment. It makes participants aware of some of the pitfalls that await the unwary or ill-informed.
Some of the topics covered include: why some risk assessments are not based on the real hazard data Risk Assessment; why many chemicals that, can cause skin damage, are not assigned a hazard statement and so don’t appear on a safety data sheet; why inhalation, ingestion and skin exposure should not be considered as separate routes; and why all chemical protective gloves can cause skin damage, regardless of the material they are made from.
